Laura Adams, 2nd Grade
My name is Laura Adams and here I am with my beautiful family, Summer, Randy, Ashley and Kaylee. Summer is eleven, Ashley is six and Kaylee is seven. We adopted Ashley and Kaylee four years ago from foster care. We were all born in Oklahoma City, Ok, except for Summer who was born in Kennesaw, GA.
I became a Christian when I was around seven years old. My parents raised me in a Christian home and my dad was a preacher who was gentle and kind as he taught me about Christ. When I was around seven years old, I realized that I had sinned against Jesus, and I wanted to make a change in my life and follow Him. I asked for His forgiveness and accepted Him into my heart and life with a simple child’s prayer that changed me. He is with me to this very day, feeling my hurts and frustrations, drying my tears and holding me close in dark moments. He also gives me peace and light daily with words of encouragement and grace through His followers and His word. He is the same God who died a cruel, ugly death for my sins, yet conquered this death, and who created a little gray kitten and aromatic gardenias that greet me each morning. He is my hope and my salvation daily.
I have been teaching school for twenty years in the public and private sectors. I earned a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University in 1985 and a Master’s in Reading from Slippery Rock University in 1998. I continued my professional growth by earning a National Board Certification in 2007. I love working with children and watching their eyes light up with new and applied knowledge. I am blessed to be working with children year after year and I hope to be doing this for many years to come.
My favorite scripture is Phillipians 4:6-7. God bless each of you!
