What an awesome event we had last Friday! Thank you for inviting your sweet grandparents and friends to visit CCS.
This was our first year to move the event outdoors. Praise God for the nice weather! It was very pleasant under the pavillion; and did anyone see that buffet?!?!
If you are one of the volunteers who hauled chairs, set up, cleaned up, baked muffins, casseroles, & coffee cake, if you greeted and directed traffic, or shuttled people from the parking lot to the school, if you decorated, organized or escorted, THANK YOU doesn't begin to express our appreciation. We had so many parents volunteer to help. We also had the help of our awesome 6th graders. Without you, this day could not have been the success that it was. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you for using your gifts and talents to serve on Grandparents Day.

With the arrival of Fall, there is always a buzz of activity happening at CCS. Our Parent Teacher Fellowship is moving in several different directions right now, and we want to make sure you are aware of what's happening. Thank you to all those who have already volunteered to help with Grandparent's Day! It's not too late to join in the fun. Read on to find out more about what we're up to this week...
Grandparents Day: We had a productive planning meeting last Friday. Thanks to all those in attendance! One exciting change from Grandparents Days gone by, is that, this year, we will be serving refreshments in our new covered pavilion. We think this will be a wonderful display, especially to those grandparents who have been coming year after year, of the exciting growth and progress of our school. Please pray with us for a beautiful morning on October 7th.
Students should have come home Friday with invitations for you to pass along to grandparents and special family friends. If you need extras, they are available in the front office and on Parent Web. If you didn't receive them, look for them today, in your child's backpack.
**Finally, sign up sheets are still posted on the cafeteria doors. If you would like to contribute food, or a jug of juice, or if you would like to volunteer your time, let us know and we'll make sure you get plugged in. If you have any questions about this event, please email PTF@ChristCommunitySchool.org.
Moms In Touch: We will begin meeting this Friday, in the library, from 8:15am until 9:15am. If you want to know more about Moms in Touch, you can visit their website www.momsintouch.org. We plan to meet every Friday, for one hour. This is very different from a Bible study, or social group. It's simply an hour of dedicated prayer. We will pray over our students, teachers and staff, using the guided prayer sheets and God's word. If you are uncomfortable praying out loud, please don't let that deter you. This is a special ministry, and one that is vitally important to our school. Feel free to contact Ali Seay with any questions.
Box Tops Contest Ends This Friday!!! All of your clipping and box top buying is about to pay off. Remember to get yours turned in by Friday, September 30, if you want them to count toward the classroom ice cream party contest. We have already sent in over $200 worth, and have many more to go. We really appreciate the effort that goes into shopping, clipping and saving Box Tops. Thank You!! You can send in your Box Tops to the classroom, or drop them in the collection box around the corner from the front office.
Spirit Wear: You should have received order forms if you would like to purchase extra spirit shirts. If not, there are forms available in the front office, and posted on Parent Web (under resource documents). We have added sweatshirts to the order form, as well. Please try to get your orders in by the end of this week. We are hopeful that some cooler weather is just around the corner, and you'll want your kiddos to be warm and cozy when it arrives. We do have a very limited number of red spirit shirts in stock, we also have some navy sweatshirts in stock.
We will have a Spirit Wear table set up during drop off and pick up this Thursday and Friday. Stop by and check your size, place an order, or purchase one of our in-stock items.
Fun Lunch: Orders are coming in. Thank you for helping to make this such an easy transition! Because of Grandparents Day, we have set the deadline for turning orders in on October 12. Regular lunch orders are due TODAY! If you have a 4,5 or 6th grader, remember not to order lunches during the Forest Glen trip.
A huge thank you to our First Grade parent volunteers who have been serving fun lunch, this month. Each grade level has been assigned a month of Fun Lunch Fridays, so let your Room Mom know if you would like to volunteer.
Duty Free Lunch: This Friday our teachers will enjoy a Mexican Fiesta provided by our Kindergarten classes. Thank you to the families who are busy preparing for this special day.
Duty Free lunch is an opportunity, once a month, for our teachers to take a well deserved break. Each grade level is assigned a date, and will provide lunch and several lunchroom monitors to keep an eye on the students while the teachers enjoy their lunch and some "time off." Please contact your Room Mom for more information.
Finally, THANK YOU!! for coming out to our CiCi's Pizza night out. It helped us raise money, and it was a great time of fellowship for our families. We'll see you at Incredible Pizza on Friday, October 21st.

Grandparents Day is just around the corner. If you haven't had the chance to be a part of this special event, you are in for a treat!
On October 7th, we will open up the school for our loved ones, and show them a little of what our time at CCS is all about. However, before October 7th arrives, we have a lot of work to do. Plans are already underway, and many more will be discussed at the meeting this Friday, at 8:15am in the cafeteria. If you would like to be a part of making Grandparents Day a success, please join us.
If you are unable to attend the meeting, but would still like to participate, we have sign up sheets posted on the cafeteria doors. You can sign up to bring food, or help with different tasks during the day. Remember, this is a "grandparents and students only" day. The only way to get a sneek peak at this fun event, is to volunteer.
Grandparents Day is a great opportunity to earn some service hour, too. Be sure to log your hours, including the time spent baking treats!
We hope to see you this Friday morning after drop off.

Thank you all for joining us yesterday morning for Moms and Muffins. I know for some of you it was really just "moms, no muffins." We sincerely apologize to those of you who arrived after the muffins ran dry, but what a great problem to encounter! It was a joy to see so many moms taking the opportunity to spend some extra time with their kiddos at the start of a busy day.
We are thrilled, this year, at the level of participation and excitement. It truly is a special moment in the life of CCS. Please continue to show up in mass, and we'll do our best to make sure we have more than enough goodies for you next time. Your involvement makes our school a better place.

Was it just me, or did anyone else bust out a William Wallace "Freedom!" shout around 8:05am? Don't get me wrong, summer was fantastic, but my kiddos were ready for some routine.
Back to school is one of my favorite times of the year. It's a fresh start, a new adventure; and I can't help but begin to look forward to cooler weather and my favorite season, Fall. It might take until the first of December to get here, but it will come!
While we wait around for that cooler weather, we have plenty to do.
If you saw the newsletter today, you know our brand new Spirit Shirts are on order. We've seen the sample, and it looks great! In the meantime, if you'd like one of the navy spirit shirts from last year, they will be on sale Wednesday and Thursday morning, at drop-off. We've reduced the price, and anticipate selling out quickly, so swing by, and pick one up before they're gone.

The purpose of PTF is to serve Christ by serving Christ Community School. We provide opportunities for parental involvement to support the various needs of the teachers and students, and to promote Christian fellowship within the school community. If you are a parent or grandparent of a CCS student, then you are a part of the Parent Teacher Fellowship.
Our meetings are open to all CCS families and we welcome opinions and suggestions from all parents. The CCS PTF encourages parents to be active in their child's classroom activities and in PTF functions. The students love to see their parents at school and your participation helps make CCS a great place to learn and grow in Christian fellowship and service. There are no special skills or abilities needed to participate, only a willingness to serve our children, our faculty, and Christ.
Next meeting date: Thursday, January 13th – 8:30am in the cafeteria.
PTF meetings are held on the second Thursday morning of the month.
